The Toyota Mark 2 was a competitor to the Nissan Laurel, the Nissan Bluebird, and the Madza Luce. The Mark 2 made Toyota a more mainstream and international automaker instead of a small and economy type automaker. It was now becoming popular to people all over the world. In the 1980s the Mark 2 was becoming even popular.

Eighth Generation (1996-2000)[]
Seventh Generation (1992-1996)[]
Sixth Generation (1988-1992)[]
Fifth Generation (1984-1988)[]
Once again the Mark 2 was still available for taxi services, fleet sales, and government agencies. A station wagon version now called the Mark 2 Qualis was introduced in 1984. It was untouched for 13 years and was replaced by the Mark 2 Blit in 2002.
Fourth Generation (1980-1984)[]
This generation Mark 2 became popular. It was now part of commercial, taxi, and driver training vehicles. That made the Mark 2 familiar to everyone in Japan.
Third Generation (1976-1980)[]
This generation had European like styling with a American and British combined front end. This was the last generation to have the Toyopet name. It was still available as a 4-door sedan, a 4-door station wagon, and a 2-door sedan. The Toyota Progres, a car released by Toyota in 1998, had a front end like the Mark 2 but was updated.
Second Generation (1972-1976)[]
The styling came from the Renault 16. In 1973 there were changes to the Mark 2. Now since the Toyota Crown was discontinued in North America, there was a gap in Toyota's North American lineup. That meant the Toyota Mark 2 had to be sold in North America.
First Generation/Origins (1968-1972)[]
The Mark 2 was offered as a 4-door sedan, a 4-door station wagon, and a 2-door coupe. In 1970 there was minor change to the grille. The Mark 2 was sold in North America. The Mark 2 wagon was the largest wagon Toyota has ever sold in North America.
