The Suzuki XL-7 is Suzuki's midsize SUV, launched in 2001 in North America alongside competitors Toyota Highlander, Hyundai Santa Fe & Pontiac Aztek. In India, the XL-7 is called the Maruti Grand Vitara (not to be confused with the current North American Grand Vitara, which has since been redesigned). Current Generation:(2006–present)

The 2007 XL-7, which debuted on April 13, 2006 at the New York Auto Show, shifts to the larger front wheel drive-based Theta platform, and will be built alongside the Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent at CAMI Automotive in Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada. It features a Suzuki-built version of the GM High Feature engine, a DOHC 3.6 L V6 which produces 250 hp (185 kW) and 243 ft·lbf (329 N·m) as well as a five-speed automatic transmission.Also it was redesigned in 2007.

First Generation/Origins (YYYY–YYYY)

The first-generation XL-7 was a Suzuki design, and the vehicle was essensially a streached Grand Vitara with company's 2.7 L V6 engine on a rear wheel drive-based platform with optional four wheel drive. The Sales of this SUV were slow in the United States, but has been a sales success in Canada.
