The Second-Generation Nissan X-Trail has recieved a 4-Star rating for adult, child and occupant protection from EuroNCAP. It lost some points because of injuries to passenger legs and the driver’s neck during frontal impacts.

As far as pedestrian safety was concerned, however, the X-Trail received a pretty abysmal 2 stars because the car's front clip offered no protection for a pedestrian’s head or legs.[2]
