Nissan CSP311 Silvia

The first Nissan Silvia was a small, two-seat sports coupe based on the Nissan Fairlady chasis. The vehicle was styled by Albrecht Goertz and was hand assembled with only 554 vehicles being made. The majority of the cars remained in Japan, but about 49 were shipped to Australia where the car was called the "Nissan 1600 Sports Coupe". The high prices due to hand assembly made the CSP311 the most expensive Nissan at the time and more expensive than a Lotus Elan. It is believed that the slow assembly and high prices prevented the car from achieving large sales numbers, althoug it has been suggested that Nissan never intended to sell many Silvias.
