The Mercury Messenger of 2003 was a Mercury concept car that took the for of a sports coupe. The new generation of Ford Mustang was also previewed around this time, and it lead some to speculate that the Messenger was a preview for an upcoming Mercury Cougar. The last Cougar was sold as a 2002 model, and Mercury has not announced any plans for a new Cougar.
