The 2018 Mazda3 Concept was an online design contest held by Mazda in 2006/2007 via the online P2P network Facebook with the intent of encouraging young up-and-coming designers to exercise their talents and imagination. Along with an optional sketch drawing, the contest required entrants to submit a 150 word essay describing their vision for a 2018 Mazda3. The winner was an Industrial Design student named Mallory McMorrow chosen among 10 semi-finalists. McMorrow, 21, gets the honor of having his concept brought to life by Mazda's designers at their booth in the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show. This event also sees Mazda’s North American design Chief Franz von Holzhausen lending a hand to the building process.
