LUXGEN Motors (pronounced /ˌlʌkˈdʒiːn/ "luck-gene", not "lux-gen"), a Taiwanese automaker, was a private brand announced by Yulon on January 6, 2009. The name "Luxgen" is formed by combining "Luxury" and "Genius". The company's slogan is "Think Ahead". Luxgen also plans to launch the brand in Mainland China and manufacture Luxgen vehicles in Hangzhou, China in 2010.[1]

Future Models

In the future, Luxgen plans to release a wider range of vehicles, including a sedan and an electric vehicle based on the Luxgen7 MPV.[2]

Current Models

The first product is an MPV called the Luxgen7 MPV. It was officially shown to the public on August 19, 2009, and hit showrooms on 9/19/2009. The second product, the Luxgen7 SUV, was revealed in Xindian on 12/4/09. Both cars are powered by a 2.2L I-4 MEFI turbocharged engine developed by ChungHwa Engine Corp. and tuned by Delphi. The turbocharger is supplied by Garrett and powers the engine up to 175 PS (129 kW; 173 hp) and 28 kg·m (270 N·m; 200 lb·ft) of torque from 2,500 to 4,000 rpm. The 5-speed Manumatic transmission is supplied by Aisin. Pricing for the MPV starts at NT$798,000 up to NT$1,068,000, and NT$838,000-NT$1,148,000 for the SUV. ABS, EBD, BAS and the Think+ Multi-purpose system (slightly different by trim level) are all standard equipment. The targeted competitor is the Toyota Previa.[3]
