Hypercar is a car classification for 2 door supercars which have superior performance above normal supercars.

Body Style[]

Hypercar can be either in supercar or grand tourer form. Examples of hypercars with supercar body style are : Koenigsegg Agera R, LaFerrari, McLaren P1, Pagani Huayra, Porsche 918 Spyder, Pagani Zonda R, Zenvo ST1, Hennessy Venom GT, Bugatti Veyron and McLaren F1. Examples of hypercars with grand tourer body styles are : Ferrari 599 GTO and Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. Modern hypercars must have at least carbon fibre material.

Performance[]

The performance of hypercars must be above average supercars, depending on the year. A great example is the Ferrari Enzo. It travels 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds. This performance was classified as above normal supercars in that time. However, there are faster supercars that can travel 0-60 mph today, but still the Enzo is classified as a hypercar because the performance was superior among normal supercars at that time.

Production[]

Hypercars are made in a very exclusive number of production. This adds exclusitivity to the owners. For example, only 20 units of the Lamborghini Reventon (Coupe version) were ever made. Only 375 units of the 916 PS McLaren P1 were made. Only 30 units of the 1,200 PS, 267.857 mph Super Sport version of the Bugatti Veyron were made.

Technology[]

Modern hypercars have carbon fibre materials for weight saving and better durability. For example, the 2010 Veyron Super Sport is covered in it.
