The Global Green Challenge is an endurance rally contest of low emission vehicles. The contest runs in Australia and consists of a trip from Darwin to Adelaide in an approximate distance of 3000 kilometres. The aim is to cover the trip with the lowest emissions. The contending cars will have to be low emission powered by petrol, diesel, hybrid, battery electric, solar, ethanol and hydrogen. Entrants include various car makers or universities.

In 2009, HSV claimed to be the winner but in fact, the Maloo is the worst polluter. It had the worst fuel economy (7.74 L/100 km), most CO2 emitted of 178 g/km and used the most fuel (243.5 L).
