The Devel Sixteen, is a mid-engined hypercar by Devel Motors, which is under Defining Extreme Vehicles Car Industry LLC. It is developed by Rashid Al-Attari and has been in the works since 2013.
Overview[edit | edit source]
The prototype for the Devel Sixteen, the company's first car, was unveiled at the 2013 Dubai Auto Show and claimed to use a "5000 HP" V16 engine, being capable of doing 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in 1.8 seconds, and having a top speed of 348 mph (560 km/h). Later that year, a few videos of the Devel Sixteen prototype driving on the road surfaced.
In 2015, Devel worked with Steve Morris Engines to produce the engine for the production version of the Sixteen, releasing a video of an engine dyno test run that same year. The Sixteen's V16 engine is quad-turbocharged and produces 5007 hp (3734 kW) at 7,000 rpm. Devel also teamed up with ISS Forged to help create the wheels for the production model.
In November 2017, it was revealed that Devel had also teamed up with the Italian firm Manifattura Automobile Torino to build the Devel Sixteen. The company specializes in one-off builds, such as the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG003S and the Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina.
The production-ready Devel Sixteen was revealed at the 2017 Dubai Auto Show on November 14, 2017. Two units were brought to the display stands, one in white and the other in gray. The Sixteen had a complete redesign from what the prototype looked like, sporting a more curvy shape.
Al-Attari is planning to release three versions of the Sixteen, as he says that the 5,000bhp version of Sixteen will not be street legal. Devel is working on two road legal versions of the Sixteen: A V8 with 2,000bhp and a V16 quad-turbo with 3,000bhp. Their projected top speeds are as yet unknown. Prices for the V8 will start at $1.6m, and the V16, $1.8m according to Al-Attari, who has no plans to limit the production run of the Sixteen.
