The Dallas Grand Prix was a Formula One World Championship motor race in 1984. The race was run at the Fair Park street circuit. In 1988, the Dallas GP became a round of the American Trans-Am Series.
The race was run on a very tight circuit, in extremely hot weather, on a track surface that was not properly installed and was being torn up in chunks over the weekend. On race morning the asphalt at several tight corners was removed and replaced with quick dry concrete. The race was more of an endurance contest, with only six finishers and air temperatures reaching 113F (50C).
