The Daewoo Tosca is a mid-size car designed by Daewoo in South Korea and marketed by Chevrolet as the Chevrolet Epica and Chevrolet Tosca, while Holden marketed it as the Holden Epica. Codenamed V250, it replaces the Daewoo Magnus and its derivatives. The Chevrolet Epica was officially launched in Europe at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show. The Tosca is noteworthy in that it is available with transversely-mounted straight-sixengines. Contrary to the preceding models (V100 Leganza and V200Magnus), which were styled by Giugiaro, the V250 was designed entirely in-house. Due to the Daewoo brand being renamed as Chevrolet for South Korea, the Daewoo Tosca ended production in early 2011 in South Korea. Production in China ended in 2015. Tosca was replaced by the Chevrolet Malibu which entered production in South Korea for the first time.
Recent Changes[]
- For the 2009 model year, the Holden Epica variant of the Tosca recieves a minor mid-cycle facelift which entails a new front grille, rear fascia and alloy wheels. Underneath the skin deep modifications, the Epica now also boasts upgraded safety equipment: ESP and six airbags are now available as standard throughout the range. Underhood, the Epica sports a new 148 hp 2.0 litre turbodiesel powerplant mated to GM's 6T40 six-speed automatic transmission with Active Select in place of the old 2.0 litre petrol V6 and returns a fuel economy rating of 7.6 litre/100km (31 mpg). The larger 2.5 litre Petrol V6 also now gets matched to a six-speed auto. [1]

Criticisms[]
- On Drive, in the owner reviews, the Daewoo Tosca (known as the Holden Epica in Australia) is rated only 2 stars. As described by one owner, ""Cheap and Nasty" is a polite way to describe this car" Drive (Owner review)[2]
- "Would I pick an Epica over a Camry? No. Or a Mitsubishi 380? No." CarsGUIDE
- "A drink-of-water car. It quenches your thirst, but there is no taste of bubble." CarsGUIDE
- "I somehow managed to avoid driving anything totally nasty this year and so felt almost apologetic about branding the Epica with the Hawley Kiss of Death when I finally drove it as late as November. I actually like its wedgy mix of Saab 9-5 and BMW 5 Series (look at those headlights) atyling, and the CDXi has a serious amount of stuff in it of 30 grand. But the ride is woeful over sharp bumps, the steering wooden and the front seats are about as soft and supportive as kitchen chairs. Then I had to check the specks list three times to confirm it did have a 2.5-litre six under the bonnet. Smooth and silent it might be, but torque? It feels like there's a sick hamster on a treadmill turning the front wheels. It maybe one for bargain hunters, but not for me." Wheels Magazine
