Recent ChangesEdit

  • For 2011, Chevrolet is expanding the Cruze lineup for the EU market with the introduction of the 5-door Cruze Hatchback. [1]
  • The Cruze is a new GM model which is meant the Chevrolet Cobalt in the United States. It also replaces the Daewoo compact cars, which were sold as the Daewoo Lacetti in Korea, Chevrolet Lacetti in Europe, Buick Excelle in China, Holden Viva in Australia, and the Suzuki Forenza(sedan) and Reno(hatchback) in America.
  • Chevrolet has expanded the Cruze lineup with the introduction of the RS and ECO' models at the 2010 New York Auto Show. While the RS is essentially an appearance package available for the LT and LTZ models, the ECO actually delivers on its name with an efficient powertrain returning 40 mpg Highway via a VVT equipped 1.4 liter turbocharged 4-pot mated to a 6-speed manual, lightweight wheels, "ultra-low" rolling resistance tires, lowered ride height and redesigned front end that improves aerodynamics. Both models will go on sale soon after. [2]

Engine and TransmissionEdit

In the Indian auto market, Chevrolet Cruze is available with three variants which are powered by the diesel engine that delivers higher level of engine performance. All three variants of Chevrolet Cruze comes with 2.0L, 1991cc, 4-Cylinder, In-line Advanced VCDi (Variable Geometry Turbo Common Rail Direct Injection) diesel engine that offers high engine performance and it can produce maximum power of 150bhp at 4000rpm with maximum torque of 320Nm at 2000rpm. This diesel engine delivers higher level of performance and acceleration with better fuel efficiency. Two variants Chevrolet Cruze LT and Chevrolet Cruze LTZ comes with five speed manual transmission gearbox while third one the Chevrolet Cruze LTZ AT comes with six speed automatic transmission gearbox.

PerformanceEdit

As already discussed, Chevrolet Cruze comes with both manual and automatic transmission option thus the acceleration of the car also varies.

Its two variants, Chevrolet Cruze LT and Chevrolet Cruze LTZ comes with five speed manual transmission gearbox and they can cross the 100kmph mark in just 9.7 seconds and can achieve the top speed mark of 184kmph. Both of these manual variants offers mileage 16.4 kmpl on highway.

On the other hand the automatic transmission version of car, the Chevrolet Cruze LTZ AT comes with six speed automatic transmission gearbox and it can touch the 100kmph mark in 11.2 seconds and can achieve the top speed mark of 176kmph. As we know mileage of automatic cars are bit low as compared to the manual cars.. the Chevrolet Cruze LTZ AT gives mileage 14.4kmpl on highway.

The front and Rear wheels of Chevrolet Cruze will be packed with large diameter ventilated disc brakes which de-accelerate the car quickly. ABS (Antilock Brake System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution) resists car to skid out of control in case of emergency braking and ensures better handling. Unique AttributesEdit

If there are any features of this vehicle that sets it apart from other vehicles in its class, then mention those unique attributes here.

InteriorEdit

Chevrolet Cruze is bigger in all dimensions it comes with longer wheelbase too, but that is not converted into usable space directly. Ergonomics is good and all the controls are in the reachable limit. The steering mounted audio controls however looks fidgety. Lack of full arm rest and the dead pedal will make your long journey painful. Front seats are wide and comfy. Again no lumbar support which means body ache at long journey is unavoidable.

is certainly short of stowage space. Though there are intelligent bits like documents space to side of the front passenger and coin holder on top of the dash. Cubbyholes are not enough and virtually there are no bottle holders. Single glove box is very shallow and is just adequate to few pepsi cans. Rear seaters gets a chunky arm rest with integrated cup holders. However, they have no a/c vents or controls for audio system. The notchback boot is accesible from rear but is not big as Laura’s.
