  • RECALL ALERT: On April 20, 2006, Cadillac announced a recall alert affecting 23,077 MY2005 Cadillac SRXs due to an improperly welded rear suspension toe link that could break apart. The alert warned: "IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR, THE AFFECTED REAR WHEEL WOULD BE ABLE TO TURN IN OR OUT, AFFECTING VEHICLE CONTROL, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE RIGHT AND LEFT TOE LINK AND REPLACE AS REQUIRED. IF A TOE LINK IS REPLACED, THE DEALER WILL PERFORM A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 3, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CADILLAC AT 1-866-982-2339."
  • RECALL ALERT: On October 10, 2008, Cadillac issued a recall alert affecting 17,301 MY2004 Cadillac SRXs due to a transmission anomaly in which the gear lever can be moved from the "park" position with the ignition "on" and without the operator depressing the brake pedal or, in some cases, the shifter can be moved from the "park" position with the ignition turned off. The recall begins in December 2008 and Cadillac dealers will replace the pawl stopper and a bushing within the shifter assembly free of charge. The alert warned: "IF POWER STEERING FLUID SPRAYS ONTO HOT ENGINE PARTS, AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE COULD OCCUR. DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND IF NECESSARY REPLACE THE POWER STEERING LINE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 12, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CADILLAC AT 1-866-982-2339." The affected vehicles were built in December 2009. GM WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL ENSURE THAT THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE IS PROPERLY ROUTED AND SEATED IN THE TRANSMISSION CABLE BRACKET. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING JANUARY 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CADILLAC AT 1-866-982-2339." The affected vehicles were built from October 26, 2008 through June 23, 2011.

Unique Attributes[]

If there are any features of this vehicle that set it apart from other vehicles in its class, then mention those unique attributes here.

Interior[]

X10ar ca001-400

The interior of the 2010 SRX is analogous to the acclaimed Cadillac CTS. Relating to the seats, a leatherette texture is found on the base model. Genuine heated, hand-stitched leather is standard on the Luxury Collection, Performance Collection, and Premium Collection models. The Premium Collection trim also adds ventilated (cooled) driver and passenger seats, as well as heated rear outboard seats. 8-way power adjustment for the driver's seat is found in all SRXs, and the passenger's seat can be matched to it, again, with the Luxury trim package. Two-preset memory for the driver's seat, power-adjustable pedals, door mirrors, power tailgate lift height, and other driver configurations are included in the memory package as part of the Luxury Collection.

An UltraView panoramic sunroof is standard with the Luxury Collection trim. It is composed of two separate pieces of glass, the front one tilting and sliding above the rear. A power sunshade is included.

Criticisms[]

"This is a very ugly car. So ugly, in fact, that you'll want to get inside it and shut the door as quickly as possible. But sadly, when you are inside it's even worse.... If it were a creature, it wouldn't be a lion or a praying mantis or even a chimp. No, I think it would be a wasp - useless and hateful in equal measure." Jeremy Clarkson, The Sunday Times

"The 2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon is no excuses. The 2010 Cadillac SRX4 2.8 T 'crossover utility vehicle' is a symphony of compromises. At base prices of up to $40,000, I’ll take no excuses." Warren Brown, washingtonpost.com

Generations[]

Second Generation (2010–2016)[]

X10ca sr002-450

For the 2010 model year, Cadillac introduced an all new SRX based on the Provoq concept vehicle[1]. While the previous SRX was a mid-size, 7-seat SUV, the 2010 version became a compact, 5-seat crossover SUV. The production vehicle shared the front-wheel drive GM Theta platform with Saab and its short-lived CUV, the 9-4X. The first official pictures of the production vehicle were released on August 15, 2008[2].

The SRX's key rival was the bestselling Lexus RX, which has been made since the year 1998. However, once the Lexus NX was introduced for the 2015 model year as a compact luxury crossover SUV (the RX was technically mid-sized), it became a more direct competitor to the 2nd-generation Cadillac SRX.

Base prices for the SRX crossover in the United States ranged from $33,830 (base) to $51,860 (Turbo Premium) in 2010; and $37,605 (Standard) to $51,730 (Premium Collection AWD) in 2016.

The second-generation Cadillac SRX instantly became Cadillac's best-selling vehicle.
