The Cadillac CT6 (short for Cadillac Touring 6) is a full-size luxury car manufactured by Cadillac, first introduced at the 2015 New York International Auto Show and first sold in the US for the 2016 model year. It is the first car to adopt Cadillac's revised naming scheme under the leadership of CEO Johan de Nysschen,as well as the first rear-wheel drive full-size Cadillac sedan since the Fleetwood was discontinued in 1996.

The CT6 features innovative technology including a streaming video rear-view mirror, and is the first application of GM’s Super Cruise autonomous drivingfeature which will permit hands-off lane following, braking and speed control.
The new Omega-platform Cadillac CT6, which surpasses the length and width of the large Cadillac XTS, uses a mix of steel and aluminum to keep the large full size sedan weight much lower than anything in its class. As a result, the vehicle weighs less than the smaller Cadillac CTS of which slots below the larger Cadillac XTS but above the compact Cadillac ATS.
The CT6 does not replace the front-wheel drive XTS, which it exceeds by 2.0 in (51 mm) and 10.7 in (272 mm) in exterior and wheelbase length respectively, as well as 1.1 in (28 mm) in width and 15.3 cu ft (433 l) in interior space. The CT6 was intended to serve as Cadillac's temporary flagship model until the larger, more luxurious CT8 sedan was brought to fruition.[9] However, Autoline reported on April 5, 2016, that Cadillac is cancelling the CT8 project because of the current market’s desire for luxury SUV models.[10] The CT6 rivals models such as the BMW 7 Series, Audi A8, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and Lexus LS as far as size, but with a considerably lower starting price than the imports. Installed within the CT6 is the second generation CUE system and a 34-speaker Bose Panaray audio system. The Cadillac CT6 has been praised by auto journalists for its lightweight chassis and premium interior. The CT6 is manufactured at GM's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly plant.As of March 11, 2016, the first CT6 delivery has been made, the vehicle being delivered to the winner of a 2015 auction for the first CT6 to be sold. The vehicle sold for $200,000 at the auction.
Powertrain[]
The CT6 is initially available with a choice of three engines, a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo and two V6 engines, a 3.6-liter and a 3.0-liter twin-turbochargedoffering 404 hp (301 kW) and 400 lb·ft (542 N·m) together with cylinder deactivation. The CT6 will be available in both rear-wheel drive (standard on four-cylinder models) and all-wheel drive (standard on all six-cylinder models). A 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8 engine should follow soon.
CT6 PHEV[]
A plug-in hybrid variant, the CT6 PHEV, debuted at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show. It is expected to be released in China in late 2016 and North America in early 2017. The plug-in hybrid will use a similar drivetrain as the currentChevrolet Volt and Cadillac ELR. The car will be assembled in China byShanghai GM.
The CT6 plug-in hybrid features a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine, two electric motors, and an 18.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is integrated into the car floor. Total system output is 449 horsepower, capable of accelerating the CT6 from 0 to 62 mph in 5.6 seconds. General Motors expects an all-electric range of 37 mi (60 km).
