The 1993 IndyCar season, the fifteenth in the CART era of U.S. open-wheel racing, consisted of 16 races, beginning in Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia on March 21 and concluding in Monterey, California on October 3. The PPG Indy Car World Series Drivers' Champion and Rookie of the Year was Nigel Mansell. The winner of the 77th Indianapolis 500, sanctioned by the USAC, was Emerson Fittipaldi.

Mansell won the 16 race championship despite only having previously raced at one circuit on the calender. That was the Streets of Long Beach, a circuit he had last driven during the 1983 United States Grand Prix West in a Lotus-Ford.

Notes

With his title victory, Nigel Mansell became the first driver to win the CART Series in his rookie season. He also became the first man in history to be the Formula One champion and the CART IndyCar champion at the same time.
