The 1979 British Grand Prix was a Formula One race held on 14 July 1979 at Silverstone. It marked the Williams team's first GP pole position and win (but with different drivers). Alan Jones led the race from the start, until his water pump failed on lap 39. Teammate Clay Regazzoni inherited the lead, and kept it until the finish.
