The 1963 Formula One season was the 14th season of FIA Formula One motor racing. It featured the 14th FIA World Championship of Drivers,[1] the sixth International Cup for F1 Manufacturers [2] and numerous non-championship Formula One races. The World Championship commenced on May 26, 1963, and ended on December 28 after ten races.
Season summary[]
Jim Clark dominated the season in his Lotus, and won his first championship with seven wins to two by Graham Hill in a BRM, and one by John Surtees in a revised Ferrari. The ATS venture, founded by ex-Ferrari workers, a complete disaster which ruined Phil Hill's grand prix career, was unrelated to the late 1970s German operation which was marginally more successful.
